Launched in 1999, the SEAT León Mk1 (or Typ 1M) represents SEAT's first attempt, in the VW era, to introduce a C segment model. The León was actually a hatchback version of the SEAT's Toledo Mk2 sedan, just like the stablemate Volkswagen Golf Mk4 was for the VW Bora, upon which both León and Toledo were made.
