He defeated Jonathan Eysseric in the first round in four sets, and then Mariano Zabaleta 7–5, 6–3, 3–6, 2–6, 6–4, but then lost to Novak Djoković in 5 sets, 6–7, 6–2, 6–3, 6–7, 3–6.
- Olivier Patience est un joueur de tennis français, né le 25 mars 1980 à Évreux (Eure) et qui réside actuellement à Boulogne-Billancourt. Il a commencé sa carrière professionnelle en 1998. Il atteint sa première finale dans un challenger en 2000 à Contrexéville, il lui faut attendre 2003 pour remporter son premier challenger à Manerbio, Italie. Mais c'est en 2004 qu'il réalise ses plus grosses performances, atteignant notamment le 3 tour de l'Open d'Australie grâce à des victoires sur Igor Andreev et Nikolai Davydenko et le 2 tour à Roland Garros ce qui lui permet d'atteindre son meilleur classement mondial : 87. En 2005, il remporte deux challengers : Saint Brieuc et Rome et passe un tour à Roland-Garros. En 2006, il remporte les challengers de Lugano, Reggio Emilia, Sanremo et atteint les demi finales de l'International Series de Costa Do Sauipe. Il perd au premier tour à Roland Garros contre Ivo Karlovic en trois sets (7/6-7/6-7/6). En 2007, il passe les deux premiers tours de Roland-Garros en battant son compatriote Jonathan Eysseric en quatre sets puis l'Argentin Mariano Zabaleta spécialiste de la terre battue en 5 sets (7/5 - 6/3 - 3/6 - 2/6 - 6/4). Il perd au 3 tour face au Serbe Novak Đoković après une superbe lutte de cinq sets (7-6, 2-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3), de 4h04 de jeu. Il a été à 2 points du match sur le service de Đoković dans le quatrième set à 6/5. En 2008, il est éliminé au premier tour de Roland-Garros par son compatriote Michaël Llodra en 4 sets (6/3 - 6/7 - 3/6 - 5/7). Il remporte le tournoi challengers de Tcherkassy (terre battue) le 7 septembre 2008.
